Holocaust Survivor Inspires

Eva Kor Speaks to Lakeshore 8th and 9th Graders

Eva Kor survived the Holocaust and Dr. Mengele's twin studies, and has spent her life speaking out for justice and forgiveness. On March 7th she visited Lakeshore High School to meet with 8th and 8th graders and share her story. Her talk was frank and inspiring!

Here, Eva signs the Learning Center copy of her book, which will be available for students this week. Other Holocaust books are still on display, along with reviews by 8th grade students who read them.

MANY THANKS to Mrs. Veldman, who single-handedly made the entire event happen! You rock, Mrs. V!

Holocaust Survivor to Visit LMS

Eva Kor Coming March 7

In 1944 Eva Kors and her twin sister, Miriam, were 10 years old. With their family they were transported from their home in Transylvania, Romania to Auschwitz. There Eva and Miriam were separated from their parents and older sisters and never saw them again. Because they were twins, the two girls were chosen to be the victims of medical experiments conducted by the Nazis. But they lived to share their experience.

On March 7, Eva will come to Lakeshore to speak to 8th and 9th graders about her experience. You can learn more about Eva by reading THIS CNN ARTICLE. Also, view the trailer for the upcoming documentary film about Eva's experience below, which will be released in late 2017:
Finally, we encourage 8th graders to read stories and historical accounts of the Holocaust. HERE are almost 30 book reviews written by Mrs. Johnson's 8th grade students to help you choose!
